Heart Break Syndrome-You could literally die of heartbreak, according to new research

  Imagine the pain of being broken up with, or worse, a loved one has died and you feel the physical ache within the left cavity of your chest. You may be experiencing a rite of passage through adulthood’s love and loss, or you could be experiencing a life-threatening condition — broken heart syndrome.

 The condition called broken-Heart syndrome  causes its victims to experience sudden chest pain and shortness of breath and is often triggered by a tragic event, such as living through a car accident or receiving emotionally difficult news.

Researchers from Minneapolis Heart Institute, observed, after studying 200 takotsubo cardiomyopathy patients’ medical histories, that the blood pumping in and out of your heart becomes temporarily disrupted by a surge of stress hormones, which are secreted in response to devastating news, according to the Mayo Clinic. The contraction in your heart may be more than just a flicker of elevated blood pulsing through a valve, though; it may actually kill you.

“It’s not as benign a condition as originally thought,” Dr. Scott Sharkey, a research cardiologist at the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation, told Yahoo News. “The true mortality rate is only becoming manifest as we have a broader experience with this.”

The study, published in the American Journal of Medicine, showed that the condition is an overwhelmingly female-dominated condition as only 10 percent of the test subjects were male.

At first, the symptoms experienced might confuse doctors into proceeding with an angiogram to X-ray the heart’s blood vessels. Then they hone in on the heart’s left ventricle with a cardiac MRI or CT exam to see if it matches the distinctions found in the hearts of takotsubo cardiomyopathy patients.

The abnormal contractions of a broken heart usually go away after one to four weeks, but if the pain persists longer, patients receive aggressive treatments, such as blood pressure medication and breathing machines. Of the 45 patients treated, nine died despite the interventions administered by medical teams.

Yul Edochie Robbers attack Pete Edochie's son in Enugu

 He recently escaped the wrath of armed bandits in Enugu on Friday, October 16, 2015.

According to the actor, the armed bandits attacked him alongside other people at hotel he was staying on Friday night just while relaxing in the premises.

Though he escaped from the claws of the bandits, he got himself injured while escaping as he was said to have crashed into a glass door.

Yul had been in Enugu for a movie shoot and was scheduled to complete the shooting before returning to Lagos, where he stays with his family.

Narrating his ordeal, 'I really wish it's a rumor but its not. This really happened. I was attacked by armed robbers on Friday night in enugu while I was relaxing in my hotel premises after the day's shoot.

Luckily I escaped but unfortunately I crashed into a glass door as I was running for dear life and sustained this cut on my ear and a few bruises. Not a funny experience at all. I'm back to Lagos to run a full scan to be sure all is well inside. I thank God for His protection,'he explained.

Ayade All set for Buhari's visit to Cross River state

The Governor of Cross River State gover­nor, Prof. Ben Ayade said the state is ready to receive President Buhari, for the flagging off of the construction of the 260 kilometres six-lane super highway.

According to Sun Newspapers, Ayade said"The president confirmed that he is not just coming, but to him it is a home-coming because he was one of the few generals that fought for the emancipation of Gakem, Bekwarra Local Govern­ment Area during the civil war and has traversed all that terrain. He also said “As he performs the ground­breaking of the 260 kilo­metres super-highway, we are challenged to ensure its completion so that he can commission it. It is a strong commitment he has given and I am sure Cross River­ians are anxiously waiting to receive him tomorrow."

Adding that “Our president is long done with politics just as I have, and he is now facing governance and that is why he is the president of the Fed­eral Republic of Nigeria.”

Diezani 6 allegations levelled against ex-minister during her tenure

The tenure of Mrs. Diezani Alison Maduekewas not been without controversy. She was accused of many wrong doings.

The Nigerian Senate also summoned her, to clear the air on the issues raised against her.

Here are some of the allegations levelled against her during her tenure, according toDaily Trust Newspapers.

1. In June 2008 Alison-Madueke was subject to a Senate probe after it emerged that as Transport Minister she had paid 30.9 billion naira ($263 million) to contractors between 26 and 31 December 2007.

2. Diezani Allison was alleged to have spent billions of Nigerian dollars inappropriately on private jets.

3. She was also alleged to be responsible for some missing $20 billion dollars.

4. She was accused of awarding multi billion Naira contracts without following due process.

5. She was accused of reckless spending of Govt funds.

6. In October 2009, the Nigerian Senate indicted Diezani Alison-Madueke for the alleged transfer of 1.2 billion naira into the private account of a toll company without due process and in breach of concession agreement.

Please note that Mrs. Diezani Alison Madueke remains innocent, until she is charged to court, and found guilty of any of these alleged offences.

Olaiya Oni Ex-minister dies at 72

A former Minister of Education in Nigeria,Olaiya Oni has been announced dead at the age of 72.

According to reports, Oni was certified dead on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Owo, Ondo state, where he passed on after a battling with an undisclosed ailment.

According to a report by Sahara Reporters, the former politician has been sick for the past three months at his Ise Ekiti hometown in Ekiti State.

"He has been bedridden for some months", the source tells Sahara Reporters. 

Family sources disclosed that the remains of the former minister has been deposited at the morgue while preparation for his burial has began.

This is coming weeks after the former Secretary to the Federal Government, ChiefOlu Falae was kidnapped in his farm in Ondo State.
