Liverpool Ladies and Super Falcons starAsisat Oshoala will be out for at least two months due to a knee injury.
The 20 - year - old got the injury from a knock on her knee during Liverpool’s 2 - 1 loss to Notts County on Saturday, July 18.
The reigning BBC Female Player of the Year was substituted in the 53rd minutes after receiving the knock.
She sat out Liverpool’s 2 - 0 victory againstEverton in the Continental Tyres Cup and manager Matt Beard told BBC Sports that Oshoala will be out for two months.
Oshoala who has scored three goals in seven league games for Liverpool Ladies will also miss Super Falcons' game against Equatorial Guinea women away in Bata in a crucial Rio 2016 Olympic Games qualifier.
The former Rivers Angels star who joined Liverpool Ladies in January 2015 told Sky Sports that she is very happy at the Merseyside side.
"I desperately wanted to improve as a player and that’s why I left Nigeria to see the way football is being played in another part of the world," Oshoala told Sky Sports.
"I had played in the Nigerian league for three years and felt it was the time for me to move on and try and improve my game.
"Liverpool is a very special club. It's not a team where you can just sit and do nothing. This is a team that works really hard and a place where players learn. That’s why they've won the league several times and they are champions.
“I came to Liverpool to improve and I think coming here was a good choice for me.”
