Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Gandujehas slashed the salaries of political officers in the state by half in a bid to cut costs.
Ganduje gave the order while inaugurating new commissioners into his cabinet, according to Premium Times.
The officials whose salaries will be slashed are the governor, Deputy Governor, Hafiz Abubakar, all 13 Commissioners and Special Advisers among others.
Ganduje, in explaining the move, lamented that the state and the nation are facing tough economic times hence the need to reduce the remuneration of appointees and elected officials.
Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai was the first to announce a 50 per cent salary reduction for himself and his deputy while the Governor of Bauchi, Mohammed Abubakarfollowed suit on Monday, June 1, 2015.
