Remi Tinubu APC leader’s wife ‘refuses to shake' Saraki at inauguration

A mild drama is said to have occurred at the National Assembly on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, when Senator Remi Tinubu, wife of All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, Bola Tinubu refused to shake the hand of newly-elected Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

Mrs Tinubu is said to have shunned Saraki’s attempt at friendliness as he inaugurated her and the other Senators who were absent during the official inauguration of the Senate on Tuesday, June 9.

According to The Cable, instead of shaking the Saraki’s hand, the Senator left it hanging and muttered some words into his ear.
However, the other Senators who were also being sworn in accepted handshakes from the Senate President.

Saraki was unanimously elected by 57 out of 108 Senators while 51 of them were at a peace meeting called by PresidentMuhammadu Buhari.
Buhari had called the meeting due to the crisis which occurred in the party over its choice of National Assembly leaders.

The APC had selected Senator Ahmed Lawan for Senate President and Femi Gbajabiamila for House of Representatives Speaker.
However Saraki and Yakubu Dogara went ahead to contest and were elected as leader by the lawmakers.
